The Alsace region in eastern France is famous for its rich culinary tradition and excellent craftsmanship. It was here that Francis Staub designed his first cast iron cocotte in 1974, laying the foundation for the STAUB company. This deep connection is not only symbolized by the stork in the company logo – the traditional symbol of Alsace – but also by the attention to detail in the production of the cookware, aiming for perfect taste and flawless design. All of the company’s cast iron cookware products are made in France. The product range has been enlarged to include hand finished ceramics and other utensils, both for cooking and serving. The high-quality products are appreciated by starred chefs around the world and make an equally good impression on a restaurant table as in private households. Since 2008, STAUB is part of the German ZWILLING group which specializes in top quality knives, cookware and small kitchen appliances, forming a strong partnership to serve every need of the ambitious cook.
The cocotte can not only be used as cookware, it also functions as a practical and aesthetic serving option on the table. The large selection of colors leaves nothing to be desired.
AROMA RAIN BY STAUB
The special structure of the lid creates a rain of aromas during cooking. Thanks to the special design and the weight of the lids, all the moisture is trapped inside. The cocottes are sealed tightly and the evaporating moisture is evenly distributed by the “picots”, little spikes that gather the condensing moisture. The effect can be intensified by placing ice cubes on the flat lid. The form of the “Chistera Drop Structure” was inspired by the glove used for Basque Pelota. So the full aroma is retained and there is hardly any need to drink.
THE COCOTTE
Your STAUB cast iron product can be used on the following heat sources: ovens, electric, gas, radiant, induction and halogen.
Dishwasher safe, hand washing recommended
Decorative nickel steel knob
BLACK MATTE ENAMEL
Made in France, each product is individually crafted using time-honoured manufacturing process for the highest quality standards
A flat lid with self-basting spikes underneath creates a continuous natural basting cycle for moist and nutritious meals
Oven safe up to 250°C / 482°F
Black matte enamel interior coating, creates a non-stick surface with natural use & provides the ideal surface for braising, roasting and caramelizing. While browning the meat, a particularly high amount of crucial roasting flavours are formed, along with an incomparable crust. At the same time, the food remains tender and succulent without sticking to the base. The interior is also exceptionally scratch resistant and easy to clean after use.
